Many residents in central Chislehurst should be receiving the below letter from the Council about a proposed CPZ, either today or over the next few days.
If you get one, please respond and have your say – Its important.
Dear Occupier,
Proposed Chislehurst CPZ ‘U’ Consultation
In March 2022, the Council surveyed the Chislehurst Town Centre area bounded by the pond in
the south, The High Street / Red Hill to the west, Barham Road to the north and Green Lane to
the east. The survey sought views on the possible introduction of a Controlled Parking Zone Q.
The Council distributed 700 letters and received 178 responses constituting a 25% response rate.
The results showed that 77% (126) of respondents said they think the Council should introduce a
CPZ in the area.
However, following the consultation, Ward Councillors advised of other roads in the vicinity that
are also experiencing parking challenges. The Council investigated the concerns and agreed to
include these roads (outside the above-mentioned consultation area) at this Preliminary Design
consultation stage.
Considering the details above, the Council proposes to progress by introducing a CPZ. If most
respondents favour controls, the zone will be called CPZ ‘U’ instead of CPZ ‘Q’. The questionnaire
below (link provided) offers options for the zone’s operational times. The options include an area
operating between Monday to Friday or Monday to Saturday. And where the operational times
stretch over part of the day (e.g. 12noon to 2pm) or a full day (e.g. 8.30am to 6.30pm).
Resident permits would cost £100 (per annum) for full-day zones and £55 (per annum) for part-time zones. Visitor Permits would cost £55 (per book of 15).
Details of the proposed layout, information on what CPZs are and how they work can be found on
the Bromley website using the link below and selecting “Chislehurst CPZ U”.
