Major changes will take place at the Waldo Road recycling centre (“the tip”) in Bromley starting in February 2025.
This will mean it will be closed for over a year while the work takes place.
Chislehurst residents needing to dispose of bulky waste items will still be able to use the alternative site at Churchfields Road in Beckenham, where a booking system is being introduced to help manage the demand.
Other measures in support of residents are also planned.
The weekend garden waste disposal sites will also be expanded and open for the duration of the gardening season next year to help residents
You will also be able to book bulky waste collections directly with the council, with additional booking capacity being created to help with increased demand.
This gives everyone who uses Waldo Road six weeks for a big clear out!
The work will involve extensive refurbishment works to the waste transfer station area, improved drainage, a new roof, wall repairs and new cladding and a fire suppression system.
We’ll update you with further information and news of alternative services as soon as we get it.
