Barclays has informed us today Friday 21st March, that it will be withdrawing its presence at The Roost Café, Pavilion in the Park, Empress Drive, Chislehurst (BR7 5FB) from Monday, 23 June 2025.

They have sent us the following information regarding this decision:

Why is Barclays Closing This Location?

When Barclays introduced its Local service, the goal was to provide face-to-face banking support even as more people moved to online and mobile banking. However, over time, the shift to digital services has accelerated.

  • 78% of customers who use this Barclays Local also bank via the app, online, or phone.
  • Fewer than 10 people rely solely on this location for in-person banking.
  • 60% of users also visit Barclays branches, meaning many already use multiple banking options.

With growing use of shared banking hubs and alternative digital banking methods, demand for this Local has decreased, leading to the decision to close it.

What Are the Alternatives?

Barclays is committed to ensuring customers can still access banking services through multiple channels:

  • Nearby Barclays branches
  • The Barclays app & online banking for secure transactions, cheque deposits, and account management
  • Telephone Banking for 24/7 support at 0345 734 5345
  • Post Office banking services for cash withdrawals and deposits
  • Digital Eagles & Money Mentors offering guidance on digital banking and financial planning

Barclays will contact customers directly and provide a ‘Barclays Local Closure Feedback’ report after gathering input from the local community.
