Sadly, Chislehurst, like many other local areas, is currently experiencing a troubling rise in crime. Over the past few weeks, residents have reported a variety of incidents, including shop break-ins, car thefts, and thefts from vehicles. These types of crimes are becoming an increasing concern for our community, and we want to ensure everyone is aware of what’s happening and what steps can be taken to address these issues.
In addition to the previously reported incidents of shop break-ins and vehicle break-ins, we have learned of further thefts occurring in our area. Most recently, there was a car theft from Woodside Avenue. Additionally, thefts of items from vehicles have been reported in Waratah Drive. These crimes highlight a worrying pattern that suggests these types of incidents are becoming more frequent, and it’s crucial that we remain alert.
One of the most important steps residents can take to help combat these crimes is to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. If you see anything out of the ordinary, such as individuals loitering near vehicles or unfamiliar people in the area, please don’t hesitate to contact the police. Timely reports can help law enforcement prevent further crimes and apprehend those responsible.
Furthermore, if you have any CCTV or dashcam footage that might be relevant, please share it with the police. Even small pieces of information or visual evidence can be vital in helping authorities piece together the circumstances surrounding these incidents.
If you’re available and would like to voice your concerns or learn more about what the police are doing in response to these issues, there are several upcoming opportunities to meet with members of the Safer Neighbourhood Team:
Safer Neighbourhood Team Police Contact Session:
- When: 3pm, Tuesday 7th January
Where: Temporary library at Hornbrook House (at the back of the car park)
This session provides an opportunity for residents to speak directly to the Safer Neighbourhood Team about any concerns or incidents they’ve witnessed. It’s a valuable chance to connect with the team and discuss crime prevention strategies. - Ward Panel Meeting with the Police:

If you’re interested in attending the ward panel meeting, please contact Alison for further details. This meeting will give residents a chance to learn more about policing in Chislehurst and provide feedback on the local policing strategy.
